The Renewable Fuels Association is pleased to welcome Nataqua as its newest associate member. Nataqua is an innovative company transforming carbon dioxide (CO₂) into ethanol through groundbreaking technology. Nataqua is now introducing its CO₂ conversion technology to the market, aiming to enhance ethanol production efficiency and sustainability.

“Innovation is one of RFA’s core values, and we are thrilled to welcome pioneering technology firms like Nataqua to our membership,” said RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper. “As America’s ethanol producers continue to pursue net-zero emissions and examine exciting new uses for their products, Nataqua’s CO₂ utilization technology holds great promise for reducing carbon intensity and enhancing operational efficiency. We look forward to working with Nataqua to move the renewable fuels industry forward.”

Nataqua is an early-stage company transforming CO₂ into ethanol with innovative technology that utilizes CO₂ gas, liquid water, and affordable industrial electricity. Their efficient process converts CO₂ exhaust streams directly into ethanol, which is then integrated into pre-distillation mixtures to enhance ethanol concentrations and reduce distillation costs.

This advanced approach not only boosts ethanol output but also lowers carbon intensity (CI) scores, improving overall plant economics. Nataqua is committed to promoting sustainable energy practices and supporting the circular economy. Scalable for various plant sizes and production capacities, their solution offers significant cost savings in raw materials, energy consumption, and overall production efficiency.

"Joining the Renewable Fuels Association is a pivotal step for Nataqua as we bring our groundbreaking CO₂ conversion technology to market. Developed in my university lab, this technology has the potential to revolutionize ethanol production by increasing efficiency and sustainability," said Dr. Christopher Barile, co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Nataqua.
