WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, members of ASTM International gathered for their D02 2017 meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. During the meeting, RFA's Director of Regulatory Affairs, Kelly Davis, and Catherine Woodliff, Chair of RFA's Technical Committee and employee of RFA member company, The Anderson's Inc., were honored with two prestigious awards. The ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels, and Lubricants was formed at the dawn of the 20th century following the introduction of revolutionary new technologies that transformed the petroleum industry. The committee promotes knowledge and the promulgation of standard specifications, classifications, test methods, practices, guides, and terminology in the following technical fields of petroleum products, liquid fuels and lubricants. RFA's Kelly Davis won the D02 "Award of Excellence" during the meeting. Davis serves as the D02 subcommittee editorial chairperson, where she reads and edits ballots before they go out and clearly articulates ethanol industry quality issues and reaches out across the table to arrive at a consensus. Davis brings thirty years of experience in the grain processing industry with emphasis in ethanol production for fuel, industrial and beverage purposes and has served as the Director of Regulatory Affairs at RFA for over four years. "I am humbled to receive this Award of Excellence from my peers, our work is never done at ASTM and I am proud of the industry's contributions over the years to enhance fuel quality standards," Davis said. ""The RFA has always prioritized industry standards, specifications, and best practices. But Kelly's unique background and extensive expertise has taken the RFA's Technical Committee to a whole new level. I'm proud of what Kelly has been able to accomplish and I know the entire industry has benefited from her hard work,"" said RFA President and CEO Bob Dinneen. During the conference, an employee of a RFA member company and chair of RFA's Technical Committee, Catherine Woodliff, received the D02 "Appreciation Award". Woodliff's guidance and leadership during discussions on U. S. Tier 3 gasoline regulations resulted in a timely update to Specification D4806 for denatured fuel ethanol. The information is critical for both the ethanol industry and improving air quality.
